It is my understanding that the following are the requirements for a Korean visa:
Degree Certificates
Police clearance certificate
Original contract stamped
Camp Schedule
Company Registration (In Korean Language)
Invitation Letter
VISA PROCESS (in detail)
The Korean embassy is in Pretoria, which is about 1000 miles away from Cape Town, so everything has to be couriered there and back:
1. Obtain a Police Clearance Certificate
Courier fingerprints and documents to the Police Dept. of Criminal Records in Pretoria, and wait for six weeks (28 business days) for processing. This certificate then needs to have an official "apostille" stamp affixed by the Department of Foreign Affairs in Pretoria too. (So courier certificate from Police Clearance Dept. to Dept. of Foreign Affairs, then the next day courier that to Korean Embassy.) Total time: 6-7 weeks
2. Degree Certificate
Courier a certified copy of your original university degree certificate to the Dept. of Education (in Pretoria) for a verification stamp. Then courier this to the Dept. of Foreign Affairs (in Pretoria) for an "apostille" stamp, then courier this to the Korean Embassy. Total time: 4 days
3. Other Visa Application Documents
Courier: Visa form, photo, passport, application fee, official contract w/ stamp, letter of invitation, Handong Business License to Korean Embassy. Visas are processed in 4 days, total time till passport is back: 1 week.
As can be observed, the time it takes to complete the new visa requirements is actually quite lengthy. That being the case, it is a good idea to start the visa process sooner than later.
